Salt Dough decorations are great fun to make and very easy too. The ingredients are very cheap so you can make a nice big batch of dough and make enough decorations to decorate your Christmas tree or whatever else you’d like to decorate. The dough can be rolled out to make flat decorations or you can use it a bit like modelling clay and model things – maybe a Santa or a snowman! Once you have made your salt dough item, you need to cook it and then decorate it. You can make them last for much longer by varnishing them, but you will definetly need an adults help with this!

Have fun and let you imagination run riot!

First of all, you must check with your parents that you can make them and ask them for their help as you will need to use the cooker and possibly a knife!

REMEMBER THESE ARE FOR DECORATION ONLY AND MUST NOT BE EATEN!

To make Salt Dough Christmas decorations you will need :-

  • a large mixing bowl
  • a large cup or mug for measuring the ingredients
  • a rolling pin
  • flour
  • salt
  • oil
  • water
  • paint etc. for decorating them when they are cooked

Now sit down and watch this video, and it will teach you how to make them.

You may want to draw some ideas of what you want to make first.

Here are some salt dough decorations!
