…….My sleigh had a test run today. The team loaded it with pretend weighted presents, fired the back up booster for emergencies and bridled up the reindeer. The reindeer were so excited! They were prancing about everywhere and jumping off the ground. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph, all nine of them slipped nicely into their harnesses and were pawing the ground impatiently whilst Senior Elf Halfmoons fiddled and shined all the leather and gold embellishments. When everything was finally ready and in place it was time for take off! The sleigh is kept on the second floor of the stables in the huge Departure Hall so that when the reindeer take off they gallop out of the hall through the huge doors and straight into the air, this way there is less strain on them at take off. I boarded the sleigh and got myself comfy, Senior Elf Halfmoon’s accompanied me on the flight just in case there were any problems. With my usual sleigh start-up cry of ‘Merry Christmas!’ the reindeer galloped out of the Departure Hall and into the air easily and gracefully, to cheers and shouts of glee from all the Elves and Mrs Claus! We flew a couple of laps around the North Pole at various speeds and angles and practised two emergency stalls and re-starts in mid-air! It doesn’t get any less frightening how ever many hundreds of years I have practised those stalls, they scare me rigid! The reindeer were all fantastic and as fearless as always, they do so love to fly…….
Until tomorrow dear diary
